In my event planning class, we created an event for the Communications Department to foster community and camaraderie between the many majors our department hosts. The event’s proposal, formulary and timeline, posted below, helped me understand the whole process of event planning, from conception to implementation, and all the details that need to fall into place along the way.
For my internship at The Partnership CDC in West Philadelphia, I helped with the planning efforts of the annual Rhythm and Blues Fest, an event with a $20,000 budget. In developing donor solicitation letters, thank you’s and vendor applications, I learned the language to use when reaching out to external publics.
As president of Messiah College’s chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America, I led the efforts to host a 5k race benefiting a local nonprofit organization. Through developing this formulary, I learned how to think of the unthinkable and manage the 20 volunteers to hold a successful event.
